From Imlil Valley to Ourika Valley Trek - 3 Days

The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts, this is a very famous trip from Marrakech . This beautiful green valley is one of the most pristine valleys in Morocco, spreading between the first foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, extending along the River.

2Nights/ 3Days Toubkal Region Trek

Day 1 : Marrakech - Imlil – Tizi'n'Tamaterte – Wanskra – Tachdirth
This trek starts from Marrakech and we drive to Imlil from where we start mountain trekking for about 1h and 45 min. hike upwards in eastern direction towards Tizi’n’Tamaterte (2279m). Our path will lead through barley fields and orchards of cherry, walnut and apple trees to Tamaterte village and after passing the village, we will follow the pathway leading us up through the forest of pine and juniper trees. In Tizi we will have a short stop to enjoy the beautiful Imlil and Imnane Valleys with Berber villages . Then we continue for another hour until we reach Wanskra and Amagdoul villages. In the afternoon we will spend some 2 hrs to hike along mule trails up through the valley to an ancient Berber village. We will spend our night in Tachdirth (2291m).

Day 2 : Tachdirth – Laabbassen – Timichi
Today we start 6 hours hike in the south-east direction to Timichi village (1850m). For the next 2,5 hours the trek will continue slowly up to Tizi’n’Tachdirth (3200m). Here we will be awarded with an astonishing panoramic view of Bouignouane (3882m) and JbelAksoual (3842m) on the one side and Angour on the other. Here we can also enjoy the beautiful nature of Verdant Valley stretching out below us. For the next 2 h we will follow a rocky pass in the northeast direction until we reach Iaabbassen village (2030m). In the afternoon we will have a 2 h hike in the northeast direction down the valley to the Timichi village - an ancient multi-layered terraced village surrounded by old nut trees. We will spend a night in a traditional Berber family house.

Day 3 : Timichi – Tiwerdiwe – Tadrarte – Agadir N’Ait Boulmane – Setti Fadma
Today in the morning we will have a breakfast and then start our 4-5 h hike through beautiful corn fields and walnut groves down the valley in eastward direction. We will pass through Tadrart and Anfli villages and arrive to the picturesque Ourika Valley. After another half an hour hike we will reach our vehicle that will bring us back.

  • Sleeping bag (3-4 season); plus thermal liner in winter
  • Scarf to wrap around your head in a sandstorm

  • Toiletries that are eco-friendly e.g. soap, shampoo etc.
  • Small First Aid Kit e.g. insect repellent, plasters, meds
  • Sunglasses.

    Meals: You will have the opportunity to enjoy typically Moroccan meals (tajine, couscous,.). Fresh products, canned food as a complement, meat bought in the mountains. Picnic or salads for lunch, hot ready-cooked meals for dinner. 
    We use a big tent to preparing the meals, and a mess tent to eat. The water flows out from the mountains is very pure but you should treat it otherwise to use bottle water instead of water from the sourse .

    Travel inside of morocco: For transfers between Marrakech and the starting or end point of the hike, we use minibuses or four-wheel drive vehicles or taxis depends on size of the group. During the days of the trek , mules or camels carry the luggage.
